One of the most recent developments in this area is Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI), which has the potential to revolutionize the way we teach and learn. The Fundación CVE and Fundación Maecenas organized two events, the II Congress of Infantil OMEP SPAIN and the opening ceremony of the I Observatory of Generative AI in Education, which have brought to the forefront two important topics that must be understood in educational ecosystems that aim to keep up with the times in the coming years.

Generative AI in Education (GAIE) is a powerful tool that has the potential to transform many aspects of school organization. It should be considered as an instrument to improve and refine the learning process, school management, and many other key processes of our educational work, rather than a threat. GAIE can help personalize education and adapt it to individual student needs, which can improve learning efficiency and reduce the education gap. Furthermore, GAIE can provide teachers with new tools and resources to enhance their teaching and make it more effective.

However, implementing GAIE in education presents significant challenges that must be addressed. School leadership teams face three main challenges when incorporating AI into their institutions: introducing the AI culture, training their teachers, and creating a strategic plan for its effective implementation. Introducing the AI culture involves educating the educational community about what GAIE is and how it can be used effectively. Teacher training is essential to ensure that they can use GAIE appropriately and effectively in their teaching. Creating a strategic plan for the implementation of GAIE is crucial to ensure that it is used effectively and that the best results are obtained.

Generative AI in Education is a powerful tool with the potential to transform education. The opening of the I Observatory of Generative AI in Education marks the beginning of a new stage in which collaboration and reflection are essential to discover the potential and challenges presented by educational AI. To take full advantage of the opportunities that GAIE will offer in the education of the future, it is essential that school leadership teams and teachers are prepared to incorporate it
